JEE Main 2019 (April session) is scheduled between April 7 – 20. The registration window for the upcoming session will close on March 7 at 11:50 pm. Candidates can apply online at jeemain.nic.in. and the fee can be paid up till March 8.
Candidates who are not satisfied with their performance in the January session can apply again for the upcoming session. Successful applicants can download admit card from March 18.
The January session concluded on January 12 and the results were declared on January 19 (Paper 1) and January 31 (Paper 2). Enter the issued application number and password to access your scores.
- As the exam was conducted in multiple shifts, NTA has converted raw scores into percentile form.
- Around 15 candidates have scored 100 percentile in the exam.
- As per the basic analysis of JEE Main and the first attempt of the students, experts say that the expected cut off would remain similar to the last year.
- Like Paper 1, Paper 2 score will also be converted into normalised scores.
Most of the students found the Paper-1 typical as compared to last year. Paper 2 was of moderate difficulty level. Technical glitches were reported at many centers and questions such as abbreviations of NASA and ISRO were asked in the exam.
NTA has displayed JEE Main 2019 Answer Keys (January session) and recorded responses of Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates can raise objections (if any) for the same by Janaury 18, 2019. For the first time, the national level exam is being conducted in winters and no formal dress code has been suggested by NTA. Last year, CBSE strictly asked the candidates to wear light colored, half sleeves and lose clothes. Ahead of the exam, NTA has released an Advisories for JEE Main 2019 takers.
NTA has uploaded JEE Main Admit Card 2019 at the official portal. JEE Main 2019 is scheduled between January 8 to 20 in CBT mode. Registrants can download the hall ticket viz. Application number and Password OR Application number and DOB.
- Visit the official website (nta.ac.in) and enter the issued Registration No. and Password to check the allocated exam center (venue and slot).
- The B.E/B.Tech paper will have questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of class 11 and 12 as prescribed by CBSE.

JEE Main Eligibility
Even though the regulating body has changed, the eligibility criteria for JEE Mains 2019 will remain the same. The standards will vary as per the program opted. A brief about the same is as follows:

- Only candidates, who have 40% or more disability, will be provided Scribe/Reader on the request of the candidate.

- The candidates who have applied for B.Arch./B.Planning must have studied Mathematics.
- There is no pass percentage prescribed by NTA to write JEE Main.
- While JEE Advanced can be attempted twice in consecutive years.
JEE Main 2019 Reservation
NTA will follow the Reservation Rules laid by GOI for admission process through JEE Main. Candidates will be assigned All India Ranks (AIR) as per their respective categorical reservation policy.

JEE Main Application Form 2019

After uploading the images, candidates have to remit the application fee online through debit/credit card or Net Banking. Given below is the category wise fee:

- Payment via Credit Card: to remit the fee, 1.20% of the examination fee will be charged additionally along with service tax as applicable.
- Payment via Debit Card, a fee of 0.75% of the examination fee will be charged additionally along with taxes for exam fee.
- A candidate using SBI Buddy will be charged INR 20 per transaction plus the service tax as applicable.
- Using Paytm will cost 1.50% of the examination fee plus the service tax as applicable.
JEE Main Slot Booking
This feature allows a candidate to choose the date and time for the exam. However, this feature is only accessible for candidates opting JEE Main in online mode.
JEE Main Slot Booking will work on first come first serve basis and it is not mandatory to book a slot.
A proposal is going around and it might be possible that NTA (National Testing Agency) will organize JEE Main from next year and ensures that the test “will be online, duly scrutinized and standardized”. Read More.

JEE Main 2019 registration Statistics – Available shortly
For JEE Main 2018, around 11.5 lakh candidates registered. Out of which, 2.25 lakh had opted for Online mode examination while 9.25 lakh candidates took JEE Main in offline mode. As compared to last year, the numbers show an overall dip in registrations but rise in test takers for computer-based examination.

The organising body also provides JEE Main Form Correction for making changes in the online form. Applicants can check their form status later by logging into their portal. Also, the link for image correction in JEE Main application form is activated at the official website.
Candidates who have been sent a message or email by JEE Main Exam Authority can only remove the discrepancy in uploaded images.
JEE Main Admit Card

- The admit card will be available online at nta.ac.in.
- To download JEE Main Admit Card, enter Application Number and Password.
- The exam is expected to be conducted in 258 cities across India and 10 international cities.
- JEE Main exam center has to be chosen at the time of registration.
Steps to download JEE Main 2019 Admit Card
- Enter JEE Main Application Number, date of birth and security pin in the admit card window
- Click on “Submit” button.
- Check the admit card on your computer screen.
- Ensure all the details are correct before taking a print out.
JEE Main Exam Centers
- The examination will be conducted in major cities and towns across India as well as abroad.
- Candidates must select one city while registering for the exam.
- In case the candidate opts for Paper 1 in the city where JEE Main 2019 is conducted but also wants to appear in Paper 2, select four other centre cities.
- However, if the number of candidates for online mode is less than 50 in a city on a particular date than all such candidates will be allotted last day of the online mode exam in the same city.
Note: Please note that a change in exam centers will not be entertained.
Following documents have to be carried along with the admit card at the exam center:
- Copy of Passing Certificate of class 12 or equivalent examination of year 2016 or 2015 if not opted for improvement
- Copy of improvement exam admit card if opted for an improvement exam

NTA has released JEE Main mock test 2019 at its official website (https://ntatpc.in/). This test should not be taken as a sample paper for the exam. It is provided for the test takers to understand the type of pattern of the online exam. The test can be accessed from the official website of JEE Main and it doesn’t need any login detail. Note: The option of question paper language should be exercised while filling up the Application Form and it cannot be changed at a later stage.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development, GOI has notified few changes in JEE pattern from 2017:
- The exam will be purely a computer based one.
- No weightage for Class 12th marks in calculating ranks in JEE Main.
- In order to get admissions in IITs/ NITs/ IIITs & other CFTIs based on JEE Advanced/ Mains rank must secure 75% marks in Class 12th or be in top 20 percentile in Class 12thexam conducted by respective Boards.
- For SC/ ST candidates, the qualifying marks will be 65% in Class 12th exam.
JEE Main 2019 Syllabus
JEE Main Syllabus for Paper 1 comprises of PCM of class 12 of CBSE board. While for Paper 2, the questions will be based on Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing.

NTA will release cut off of JEE Main 2019 along with the result. Based on cut off, a merit list will be released and candidates will be called for counselling process.

JEE Main 2019 Counselling
The process for JEE Main counselling will commence separately for each session. The seat allotment procedure will be based on All India Ranks and will start after the declaration of results. The verification of documents for admission will be done at the time of seat allotment process. In 2017, the counselling and seat allotment was held in 7 rounds.
There are 3 counselling processes for JEE Main 15% All India Quota seats viz.
- JoSAA Counselling (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) manages combined counselling and seat allotment procedure for all the IITs, IIITs, NITs and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).
- CSAB NEUT is conducted for seats reserved in AICTE approved Institutes in India that are not covered under CSAB for the North Eastern States & Union Territories (NEUT).
- CSAB SFTI is conducted for admission in Self-Funded Technical Institutes.

JEE Main FAQs
Ques.I am preparing for NATA 2019 as well as JEE Main 2019 for B. Arch. What is the difference between in both the syllabi and the preparations?
Ans. The exam pattern for NATA as well as JEE Main Paper II for B. Arch. is fairly similar which is a great news for all the aspirants. There are 3 sections in JEE Main Paper II – Aptitude Test, Mathematics and Drawing Test. There will be 50 questions in the Aptitude section, 30 questions in the Mathematics section and 2 questions for the Drawing section based on Memory and 2D design.
Ques. Can I edit my category in JEE Main Application Form?
Ans. Yes, you can edit your category in the form during Form Correction. The window for JEE Main application form correction will open in January 2019. Login with Application Number and Password to access the form correction.
Ques. I have made a mistake in uploading photo in the application form. How can I edit it?
Ans. In case you have made any mistake while uploading the photograph in the application form, it can be edited during JEE Main Form Correction process which will become functional in January 2019.
Ques.I have done all steps for the JEE Main application and at last, they showed a message that my examination center (Ernakulam) is full. What is the solution for this? Whether I can write the exam or not? What will be my exam center then?
Ans. In case the opted Exam Center is full, then you have to select another nearby exam center to give the JEE Main exam. The final decision regarding the allotment of examcenters is taken by the exam conducting body.
Ques. Sir, I am from J&K and I passed class 12th last year with 72%. Am I eligible for JEE Mains and can I get admission in NIT?
Ans. Yes, you are eligible to apply for JEE Main 2019 (minimum 50% marks in PCM). To get admission in NIT, a candidate must secure at least 75% marks in 10+2 Exam (65% for SC/ST category) or be in the top 20 percentiles in the 10+2 exam conducted by respective boards.
Ques. Is it possible to change the exam mode?
Ans. Yes, you can change the exam mode but only from pen & paper examination to computer based examination. The vice-versa is not possible.
Ques.I have submitted more than one form. Will my application be rejected?
Ans.No, the authority will merge both of your applications and on this behalf, they will issue an admit card to you. However, in this case candidates need to send an email to ntanationaltestingagency@gmail.com providing both the application number and mentioning the application number, they want to consider.
Ques. My transaction failed while paying the application fee. What can be done?
Ans. If you come across this situation then you need to pay the fees again. In case you balance is deducted due to any technical failure then the same would be refunded to your account within 7 to 10 days. If you have made the payment through e-challan then you should quickly contact the concerned bank/branch.
Ques. How can Assam, J&K and Meghalaya candidates apply, having no aadhaar card?
Ans.Candidates who have passed/appearing the class 12th examination from Assam, J&K and Meghalaya states have to enter passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Govt. Identity number. Such candidates have to select the exam city centre in these states only.
Ques. Can candidates with a Diploma apply for JEE Main?
Ans.Yes, diploma candidates can apply for JEE Main 2019 but only to fulfill the eligibility for JEE Advanced 2019. Diploma holders will not be eligible for admission to NITs and CFTIs through JEE Main channel.
Ques. I am from Nepal. Can I apply for JEE main?

Ques. What is the importance of Organic Chemistry in JEE Main?
Ans.Organic Chemistry has weightage of at least 30-35% of chemistry part in JEE Main. Important topics of organic chemistry are general organic chemistry, alcohol, phenols and ether, aldehydes and ketones.
Ques. I am from Assam and I don’t have aadhaar number and passport. Which number should I enter as my identification number?
Ans.If you don’t have aadhaar number and passport number then you can enter any one of the followings, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Govt. identity number.

Ques. This is my third attempt of JEE Main. Can I apply next year too?
Ans.There are a maximum of 3 attempts for JEE Main. Hence, you are ineligible to appear in the next attempt.
Ques. How many institutes are participating in JoSSA Counselling this year?
Ans.There a total of 97 institutes (23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 20 GFTIs) that are participating in JoSSA Counselling 2019.
Ques. I have filled the application form under SC quota and I belong to defence services category as well, how will I be allotted a seat at NIT?
Ans.the seat allocation will be based on SC quota firstly, following which DS category conditions will be applicable. However, you will have to qualify the cut off set for SC quota in the cut off list.
Ques. What is the State of Eligibility for the Improvement Candidates/Institution Abroad/NIOS?
Ans. If a candidate has passed Class 12 or the equivalent qualifying examination from one state but appeared for improvement from another state, their state code of eligibility will be from where they have originally passed Class 12 or the equivalent qualifying examination. Indian nationals passing the equivalent qualifying examination from an institution abroad, their State of Eligibility will be determined based on their permanent address in India as provided in the Passport. Candidate passed/appearing class 12th from NIOS should select the State of Eligibility according to the state in which the study Centre is located. The State of Eligibility is not applicable for the candidates belonging to Nepal /Bhutan/Foreign/OCI/PIO.
Ques. I will clear my Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in 2019. Can I apply for JEE Main 2019?
Ans.Yes, to appear in JEE Advanced, a diploma holder can apply in JEE Main 2019 but their ranks and scores for JEE Main will not be declared as diploma holders cannot apply for admission in NITs and CFTIs through JEE Main.
Ques. What is the admission procedure for admission in BArch course in an IIT through JEE Main 2019?
Ans.Candidates appeared in JEE Main Paper 2 are eligible for admission to B. Arch. Course only in NITs/SPAs other CFTIs (where B.Arch. course is available). For taking admission to B.Arch. in IIT’s, there is a separate procedure for which they should see the respective websites of IITs.
Ques. I forgot to upload the photograph with name and date of taking photograph in JEE Main Application Form. Will my form be rejected?
Ans.No. JEE Main Application Form will not be rejected for uploading the photograph without the name and date of photograph is taken. Even no correction is required. In such case, you will be issued admit card for appearing in the exam.
Ques. How much percentage of marks are required to be eligible for JEE Main 2019?
Ans.There is no special criteria of minimum percentage defined for appearing in JEE Main 2019. But for taking admission in NITs, IIITs, IITs and CFTIs through JoSAA Counselling, a candidate must secure a minimum percentage of 75 or be in top 20 percentile in class 12. For SC/ST, the qualifying marks is 65%.
Ques. I am from West Bengal. What are the other engineering entrance exams that I can appear apart from JEE Main 2019?
Ans.Apart from JEE Main, you can appear for BITSAT, COMEDK UGET, VITEEE, MU OET, SRMJEEE, UPSEE, AEEE and WBJEE.
Ques. Is there any difference between JEE Main Syllabus and JEE Main Advanced Syllabus?
Ans.There is only a slight difference in the syllabi of both the exams. Thermal Physics in Physics and Electrochemistry- Equivalent Conductivity, Nuclear Chemistry in Chemistry is included JEE Advanced Syllabus. There are certain topics that are covered in JEE Mains but not in JEE Advanced. They are: Sets, Relations and Functions, Statistics and Probability, Trigonometry, Mathematical Reasoning, Biomolecules, Chemistry in Everyday Life, Electronic Devices, Electromagnetic Waves, Communication Systems.
Ques. Do I need to apply to the participating colleges at the time of JEE Main Registration?
Ans. No. There is no provision of applying for colleges during JEE Main Registration. After the declaration of JEE Main Result, candidates must register for JoSAA and CSAB for the counselling.

Ques. When did the Aadhaar Card Act and Regulations come into effect for JEE Main exam?
Ans. The use of Aadhaar Card came into effect from September 14, 2016. It became mandatory so as to maintain the accuracy of the candidate and ascertaining identities of candidates at the examination centers in a hassle-free manner.
Ques. What is the use of Aadhaar Card in JEE Main Application Form?
Ans. Listed below are the use of the document at the time of registration:
- To enter Aadhaar number, name, date of birth & gender in online application for JEE Main for the purpose of his/her identity and authentication thereof.
- Candidates not yet enrolled for Aadhaar, are hereby required to make application for Aadhaar enrolment in case he/she is entitled to obtain Aadhaar as per section 3 of Aadhaar Act. Such applicant may visit any Aadhaar enrolment centre (list available at www.uidai.gov.in) to get enrolled for Aadhaar.
The candidates who have enrolled for Aadhaar and have not received Aadhaar should enter 14 digit Aadhaar Enrolment ID (Including slash) printed on the Aadhaar enrolment slip at the time of filling online application form for JEE(Main) 2019.
Ques. Can I change my paper appearing mode from Hindi to English?
Ans. JEE Main 2019 exam will be conducted through online mode only, i.e Computer Based Test. So, Yes, candidates can choose the medium on their screen during the examination.
Ques. By mistake I fill wrong mother name and category so I change that
Ans. Yes, you can edit your mother name and category in the form during Form Correction. The window for JEE Main application form correction will open in October 2018. Login with Application Number and Password to access the form correction.
Ques. Hello I miss type my email id is it effect on my hall ticket?
Ans. Yes, you cannot get your JEE Main admit card through post. You can only download JEE Main Admit Card from nta.ac.in. In that case, You need to login to the systems with your roll number and password, which are stored on your email, just check in your personal mail id, else send an email on helpline to get your credentials.
Ques. If I give the exam both the times i.e., January as well as in April then will it be considered my 2 attempt or just 1?
Ans. The Number of attempts for admission in particular academic session will be treated as one. It is not necessary to appear the exam twice. This would be the optional for the candidate to appears once or twice for the current academic sessions. If the Candidate appears both the test it is better to used both the scores, best of the score would be taken for the merit list.

Ans. If you’ve put your mother sign, then too it will show successful.
Ques. Name format in JEE form?
Ans. The Aadhar card name is the accepted name on your ID.
Ques. I have uploaded the photograph without name and date but I still got the message and any email saying that “your registration is successfully done” is that fine.
Ans. Name of the candidate and date on which the photograph is taken is to be mentioned on the photograph, but in case uploaded photograph does not have name and date, the form will not be rejected and no correction is required in such a case and he/she will be issued admit card for appearing in JEE Main 2019 as usual.
Ques. I uploaded a 110 kb photograph by mistake… It didn’t show an error then and the application process completed successfully… Can there be a problem.
Ans. No, but if you have made any mistake while uploading the photograph in the application form, it can be edited during JEE Main Form Correction process which will become functional in October 2018.
Ques. I have cleared my 12th in 2016 and two times participated in JEE mains. So, my question is that can i am eligible for JEE mains 2019 or not?
Ans. For appearing in JEE Main examination there is no age limit for the candidates who have passed XII examination in 2017, 2018 or appearing in 2019 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE Main Examination 2019. The candidates should satisfy themselves about the eligibility of age limit requirements of the Institutes in which he/she is desirous of taking admission.
Ques. Is the fee structure higher than normal as these are ‘self-financed seats’?
Ans. This year application fee is low as compared to previous year.
Ques. According to new rule does JEE mains provides us 6 chances (if i am appearing candidate in 2019) than can i give 2 exams in 2019, 2 exams in 2020 and 2 exams in 2021 or i will get only 3 chance in three consecutive years?
Ans. As per the new scheme of 2019, candidate can appear twice. The Number of attempts for admission in particular academic session will be treated as one. As per the NTA rules candidates can appear three consecutive years.
Ques. How can one check the status of application for JEE main?
Ans: To access the form status (or rechecking form), login using application number and password.
- After that, click on Status tab.
Anyone of the following messages will be displayed on the user’s window:
Received – If the application form is successfully submitted
Unsuccessful – If the application form is Incomplete/Rejected/Not Submitted
- In case the confirmation page is not generated after payment of fee then the transaction is cancelled and the amount will be refunded to the candidate account within a week and however the candidate has to make another transaction till the confirmation Page is not generated.
- After the confirmation of fee deposited from Bank, the candidate will be able to print the Acknowledgment Page, by login to their account again.
- In case the Acknowledgment Page is not generated, the candidate should contact the concerned bank/branch to update his/her transaction.
- Now safely log-out the window.
