Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a regular two-year programme with different specializations like finance, marketing, human resource, operations, and international business. PGDM-finance has a very vast scope or prospects in the corporate world. This is because of the irreplaceable role of finance in any business organization. Primarily, there are broadly 3 categories of job profiles for PGDM-finance students viz. Accounting/Audit/Taxation, Corporate Finance and Equity/Banking/Insurance etc. For profiles like Accounting (e.g. BRS-Bank Reconciliation Statement process), Audit and Taxation, companies prefer PGDM-Finance students with commerce background (B. Com. Graduates). But it does not mean that students with non-commerce background should not opt for finance. These students (along with commerce background students) may find an opportunity to make their career in any of the following sectors/industries/profiles.
1.Financial Analyst
2. Research Analyst
3. Equity Analysis/Portfolio Manager
4. Financial Planner/Adviser
5. Banking and Insurance
6. Treasury
7. Corporate Finance
For these profiles, PGDM–Finance students without commerce background (B. Tech. and B. Sc. Graduates) are also hired by companies. In fact in analyst profile, B. Tech and B. Sc. background students do much better.
